A. What is RAM?-Madeline
RAM stands for “random access memory.” It is where pretty much all the memory on a computer is stored. It’s a lot faster and easier than any other storage on a computer. RAM is also a lot smaller.
What does it do?
It stores data on a computer before it moves on to the CPU part of the computer. It’s really just a temporary memory storage that helps your computer run faster and better.

The more RAM you have, the more data it can store and the faster your computer.(1
B. Why do some programs require more RAM?-Allan
Some programs might require more RAM so that the computer has room to store information. For example Windows XP needs 512MG so you might have to add more RAM. The more RAM you have a better performance. Therefore the faster your computer will run. It is also cheaper than some other ways to speed up your computer. When you add RAM you would look inside your desktop and put in one of the motherboard slots. Another reason you would have to add more RAM is because the more programs that are loading the more RAM you need it isn't just the size of the file.(2)(3)

C. What does the RAM plug into?-Harley
Where does information come from and where does it send it?

The RAM plugs into DIMM, or memory slots. The information the RAM receives comes from your hard disk, the RAM keeps the data it receives and it stays there until the RAM moves the data to make space for new incoming information, or the computer is shut off.
